Amazing method to removing scratches from anything without paying for expensive products.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you are using a toothPASTE and not a gel. Gel-type toothpastes will not work. Also make sure it isn’t the type that has little bits of anything in it. Many manufacturers now like putting “breath crystals” or other little speckles of junk in their toothpastes that will defeat the purpose of this process. Just make sure the toothpaste is white, and has no specks of stuff in it, and it should work fine.
Why does this work? because toothpaste is an abrasive. When you smear it on the disc, it buffers the scratches out and resurfaces the entire CD along with all the scratches and blends it all in making the disc smooth. Therefor, the CD will look unscratched and the disc wont skip.
WARNING: In some rare cases, this method can worsen the condition of the CD. It barely happens but be aware that its possible.

Most disks the …
Most disks the media is the Mylar layer on the back or the side that most folks foolishly write on. damage to the back or label side will kill a disk faster then scratches. A white toothpaste is best always using a circular motion EVEN with the cloth when drying. If the plastic is scratched on the face that will work to repair most defects that would affect the laser. How ever if you hold the disk up to the light and the label is torn? If ou can see colorless light through it sadly its ruined.

I have used this …
I have used this method before but it was on a PS2 disc [a blue one] that kept freezing up.
I used slightly watered down toothpaste [Crest extra whitening] and rubbed it on the disc from the inside moving towards the outside until I was done. I let it sit and although it had more scratches on it, I guess the smaller scratches buffed out the larger ones making the CD readable.
It worked like new but I wouldn’t try it unless you want to risk messing it up.
it mite work
it mite work
toothpaste contains …
toothpaste contains tiny bits of limestone i.e powder so it’s never a good idea. rubbing it on a shiny surface will just add smaller scratches. there are special gels made for this.
mildly scratched cds are repareable as the information is written in between the 2 plastic layers, unless of chourse they are made with a chizle. scratches just deflect the laser beam reading the disk
